Keith McGuire is a self-taught watercolorist, graphic designer, and art teacher. Keith’s works have been strongly influenced by the locations he has lived. West Florida, Texas, and the Big Island of Hawaii have nurtured a deep love of nature and a variety of environments. Keith currently resides in Ypsilanti.
As a watercolor artist, Keith’s paintings have always leaned toward a realistic interpretation of nature. He loves texture, granite, lichens on both rock and tree branches, tree roots, old buildings, aged barn wood and rusted metal roofs. Lately, Keith’s interests have turned back to Florida, but he also enjoys painting the beautiful farmscapes around him.
Keith McGuire also teaches watercolors and drawing for both adults and children. Keith has developed a deep passion for passing on what he has learned over 35 years. Keith believes in developing good drawing fundamentals and in using them his students will achieve their artistic goals much sooner!
As a graphic designer for many institutions in the Ypsilanti area, Keith creates a balance between fine art, graphic design, and teaching that keeps him slightly crazy, but never bored.
